College Football on a Wednesday Night?

I am sitting in my dorm room on a Wednesday night watching the UConn vs. Pittsburgh college football game. I do not understand why a team would schedule a game for a Wednesday night. This does not allow a team to play on a Saturday the week before or a Saturday the week after, which is when football games generally are played at the collegiate level. I do not think it is smart for a team to play on a Wednesday night because it messes up that teams schedule for the entire month. I guess it is a good opportunity for the teams to get viewership because if you are a general fan because it is an opportunity to watch football on what usually is an off night. I am sure that these teams will evaluate this event and determine if this is a positive or negative thing for their program.

Struggling Sox or Surging Rays

When September 1st rolled around the Boston Red Sox looked to be in good shape with a slim but somewhat controlling lead in the AL East. They were 1.5 games up on the Yankees and 9 up on the Rays. 9. This morning many people opened the daily news paper thinking what the hell happened. Not only are the Red Sox out of first place and pretty much out of first place for good they are struggling to make the playoffs with a slim 2.5 game lead over the Rays. The only thing going for the Sox now is that the season is running out. So are the Sox struggling that bad or are the Rays making a late season push. Well, both. There is no doubt that the Sox are scuffling to the finish line here in the latter part of the season but you cannot take away the good play of the Rays winning 6 out of their last 7 regular season games again the Sox. Nothing against the Rays but lets face it the Sox are choking and digging their own grave. As the season plays out we all expect the Sox to make the playoffs but we should not sleep on the Rays. I would not be overly surprised to see the Rays to sneak in over the Sox.
